Notice of Physical Reexamination
What is a Notice of Physical Re-Examination?: If you have received a “Notice of Physical Re-Examination” from the California Department of Motor Vehicles, you have just been notified that the DMV is working to suspend your driving privilege based on a suspicion that you are no longer Physically capable of driving. Often referred to as a “P & M” Notice, the Notice of Physical Re-Examination serves one purpose; to tell you that you must act quickly to prevent the automatic suspension or revocation of your driving privilege.
Why is the DMV Taking This Action?: Within the Department of Motor Vehicles is an enforcement bureau known as the Office of Driver Safety. Think of this like the DMV’s version of a courthouse. If the Driver Safety Office (DSO) receives information from any source suggesting you may have a Physical condition which affects your ability to drive, the DSO is mandated by law to take action. In all honesty, driving can be an inherently dangerous event so it is important that all California drivers have the Physical and Mental capacity to drive; however, every year hundreds of perfectly healthy drivers lose their driving privilege to innuendo, mistake, and misinterpretation.
Your Must Take Immediate Action!
The suspension or revocation of your driving privilege is automatic, defending yourself is not. Don’t’ fool yourself, the DMV will presume that the allegation made against you is accurate and that you pose a threat to the motoring public. Based on this, the DMV has already begun the process of suspending or revoking your driving privilege………..This is going to happen unless you take the necessary steps to stop it. Depending on a variety of factors, you may have as little as 5 days to make initial contact with the Department of Motor Vehicles. If you do not take steps to prevent the suspension, the DMV will presume that you agree with the information they possess and they will take you off the road….PERIOD!
